Are my donations 100% tax deductible?

Yes. The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which means that all gifts to the Foundation are tax-exempt to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Is your online donation page safe and secure?

The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation’s online donation form is operated by PayPal, a respected industry leader in online payment transactions. You enter your credit or debit card information onto a secure (SSL) website that encrypts your information so it is unreadable to anyone outside the transaction process.

What does my donation support?

Individuals and chapters can apply their donations to different Foundation funds and programs by marking their gift as unrestricted or restricted.

Unrestricted: These donations go to support vital Foundation initiatives such individual and chapter educational programming, leadership training, general scholarships, and the Educational Leadership Consultant (ELC) program.

Restricted: Donors can restrict their gifts to the Foundation to support the Friendship Fund, or a specific named grant or scholarship.

Please remember to indicate on your donation form your gift intention: unrestricted, or the specific fund/program to which you’d like to direct your gift.

Can I make an automatic, recurring gift?

Absolutely! Check out our online giving form. This will direct you to a secure PayPal site where you can set up your own account and manage recurring donations to the Foundation.

If I choose to send my gift by mail, how should I write my check?

Whether you choose to give to the Foundation unrestricted or choose to restrict a gift to the Friendship Fund or a specific grant or scholarship, all checks are to be written to the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. The Foundation manages gifts for each separate fund and distributes your donation accordingly. We are unable to process checks written to other organizations.

If you or your chapter collect gifts from other organizations or individuals for Foundation fundraising events, please encourage them to make individual checks out directly to the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation instead of to you or your chapter, and send all of those checks in with your donation form. This ensures that each individual and business receives the tax benefit of their gift. Chapters are still recognized for gifts they send in this manner.

How does the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation support Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)?

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is the national philanthropy of Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity. The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation supports the Fraternity’s philanthropy through quarterly grants to the National CASA organization.  The grants are funded by individual and chapter contributions that have been designated for this specific purpose. If you or your chapter wishes to designate a portion of your Foundation donation to the National CASA Grant, please indicate the restriction when you make your gift. Checks for the National CASA Grant should still be made out to the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. The Foundation does not grant dollars to local CASA chapters.  To donate to your local CASA chapter, please contact them directly.

Each biennium, the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation recognizes Theta college and alumnae chapters based on their contributions to the Foundation’s National CASA grant.

What are the Foundation’s administrative costs?

All not-for-profits have administrative expenses. The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation works to keep our administrative expenses as low as possible – around 20%.
