Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation Announces
Candidates for 2010-2012 Board of Trustees
The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is pleased to announce it has received applications and references from nine new candidates for possible nomination to fill open positions on the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation Board of Trustees. All current elected Trustees, with the exception of retiring President Wendy Goshert and retiring Secretary Lisa McLaughlin (who is chairing the Foundation Nominating Committee), have confirmed their availability to return to the board if re-elected for the 2010-2012 term.
The 2008-2010 Elected Board of Trustees is comprised of Wendy Sears Goshert - President, Kathleen Bennett Tonkel – Vice President, Lisa Edelmann McLaughlin - Secretary, Kim Harvey Looney, Jill Pedicord Peterson, Dinah Hampton McClymonds, Elizabeth M. Prosser and Lyn Stewart Simensen. Fraternity President Katie Busby and Fraternity Vice President Alumnae Mary Ellen Fitzsimonds also serve on the board as ex-officio members.
New Candidates:
Emily Weirich Bandera, MD, MBA
Emily is a 1951 Beta Chapter/Indiana University initiate, living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is pleased that her recent retirement from medical practice will allow more time for active participation in Theta activities and to “give back” to the organization which has meant so much to her for many years.
Suzanne Summers Bockus
An active leader in the Oklahoma City community, Suzanne is a member of Class XXV of Leadership Oklahoma City and has stayed involved in the Oklahoma City Theta Alumnae Chapter throughout her adult life. Suzanne met her husband of 31 years, at a Theta /SAE function when attending the University of Oklahoma. She is a 1976 initiate of the Alpha Omicron chapter.
Jennifer A. Cardilli
Jennifer Cardilli is a 1997 initiate of Gamma Mu Chapter at the University of Maryland. She earned her BS in Finance at the University of Maryland College Park and earned her MBA in Finance from Fordham University. Jennifer resides in Norwalk, CT, where she works as a Senior Investment Analyst for a currency fund and serves as the Advisory Board Chairman for the Epsilon Tau chapter at Yale.
Mary Ellen Kutsenda Fitzsimonds
Mary Ellen Kutsenda Fitzsimonds is the retiring Grand Council Vice President Alumnae and has served the Fraternity at the local and international level. In her community she is active with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the Evanston Township High School PTSA, Boosters Club and College Career Center. She is a 1986 initiate of the Beta Kappa Chapter at Drake University, where she graduated with a BS in Pharmacy.
Christiane J. Hoffman
Christiane, a charter member and 2000 initiate of Zeta Omega at Loyola Marymount, is in her 10th year as an advisor for Eta Iota/University of San Diego and serving a third term as San Diego Alumnae Chapter President. She works in HR for Qualcomm and a proud employee thanks to their encouragement of employee volunteer service.
Victoria Laughlin McCluggage
Vicki has served as a college chapter advisor for 30 years, was the past Pasadena Alumnae Chapter President, USC support group officer, and Los Angeles Philharmonic Board member, supporting community youth orchestra development. Vicki’s daughter is a Theta at USC. Vicki is a 1973 initiate of the Omicron Chapter at USC and is married to Kerry McCluggage, a television and film executive, and member of the Sigma Chi Foundation Board. They reside in Southern California.
Lisa Davis Olney
A former public relations professional, Lisa recently switched her career to the field of member relations. She credits her new career choice to her alumnae work with Kappa Alpha Theta, and looks forward to continuing her support of the Fraternity and the Foundation in a variety ways. Lisa is a 1990 initiate of the Delta Epsilon Chapter at Arizona State. She and her husband, Buster, reside in Westchester County, New York and have two children.
Laurian Ewbank Rutterbush
Laurian is a 1996 initiate of the Zeta Rho Chapter at UC – San Diego. She is the mother of an 18-month old future Theta. For Theta, she has served on an Advisory Board, Alumnae Board, and Facility Corporation Board for the past 4 years. When not volunteering for Theta she is an Employment Attorney and resides in Fresno, California.
Giselle Zagari, MD
Giselle is a 1995 initiate of the Beta Mu Chapter at the University of Nevada – Reno and resides in Phoenix, Arizona. She is an Emergency Medicine Physician and Attending at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. Currently she serves as VP Service and Fundraising for the Phoenix Alumnae Chapter and was the Beta Mu Chapter President in 1998.
Elections will take place at the Foundation Board meeting April 23-25, 2010.
